Zusammenfassung
Daughter of Helios, and therefore divine, the figure of Circe has come to us as a seductive and skilful enchantress in her use of plants with magical effects. The virile Odysseus, along with the help of the other gods, will have to beat Circe into submission in order to recover his team and come back to Ithaca. However, the Homeric story as well as other information about the goddess and her genealogy, help us to have a clearer picture about the complexity of the meaning of this mythical figure. As Helios's daughter and Ocean's granddaughter, as her mother, Perse, is an Oceanid, she has a privileged relationship with the limits of the world and consequently with Hades' underworld. This link is crucial for the interpretation that is proposed of her figure within the framework of the C.G. Jung's analytical psychology.
