Resumen

El presente artículo repasa la contribución de distintos historiadores a los debates sobre el significado, los orígenes y el contenido del término globalización. Este concepto ha sido desvirtuado y cuestionado como consecuencia de su uso sistemático, tanto en ámbitos académicos como entre el público en general. La historiografía se ha ido adaptando a los cambios semánticos sufridos por el término, hasta el punto de que la globalización ha servido para recuperar perspectivas de larga duración, así como enfoques monocausales e incluso deterministas. Sin embargo, algunas de las aportaciones más recientes permiten no solo integrar la globalización en los relatos históricos, sino perfilar su verdadero alcance y significado.
