Resumo

The present work deals with the difficulty of assessing intimate partner aggression using the Conflict Tactics Scale (CTS-2), synthesizing research on intimate partner aggression in our country in general. With this goal, firstly, two forms of assessing partner aggression are presented as a function of the data to be used as reference: individual and dyadic data (maximal dyadic report, the highest aggression report of the partner, partner agreement report, and correction factors). Secondly, we review the major studies conducted in our country on the assessment of psychological and physical aggression. Finally, the implications of the individual and dyadic data in the assessment of intimate partner aggression, both in general population and in clinical and forensic samples, are discussed.
