Zusammenfassung
The analysis of personality disorders is a complex task. This is due to the heterogeneity of the psychopathological conditions and the different psychological models which conceptualize and address them. We shall present herein the psychoanalytic theoretical model applied to the psychodiagnosis and the psychological evaluation of personality disorders. Significant theoretical concepts will be reviewed, such as symptom, therapeutic demand, psychic apparatus, and psychopathological structures. We will then describe how the process of evaluation is conducted, and additionally, which are the most extensively used batteries of tests. Particular emphasis will be made on Projective Techniques, describing the process in adults as well as in children. We will also present empirical data of investigations of psychoanalytic psychodiagnosis in psychotherapy (Appelbaum, Exner, and Fundación Menninger) We conclude with the presentation of Diagnostic Indicators for the suitability of Psychoanalysis or Psychoanalytical Psychotherapy, according to several authors (Paz, Malan, Braier, Brammer and Shostrom, Fiorini, Coderch).
