Résumé

Introduction. The regulation of violent, among others, contents in certain times of the day aims to protect minors of their effects. However, it is necessary to analyze the characteristics of violence to be able to anticipate their consequences. This work aims to analyze and compare aggressive acts broadcast on Spanish TV in times with different degrees of protection to minors. Methods. For that aim a content analysis of 147 hours of TV recordings broadcast in 2000, 2005 and 2012 in the main national and regional channels was carried out. Results and discussion. Similar results are found regarding the frequency and characteristics of the violence at times analyzed. It should be noted that 57% of violence in protected time is legitimate or ambiguous in this sense. Minors are thus still exposed to TV violence, but an effective regulation should also consider aspects like the consequences of violence and the legitimation it receives.
