Abstract

The aim of this article is to make a review of the procedures for the diagnosis of the salivary glands diseases. Clinical signs and symptoms of diseases of the salivary glands generally tend to be nonspecific. However. the superficial location of these glands easily permits inspection and palpation so that a thorough physical examination combined with a detailed history often provides sufficient information for a clinical diagnosis. Nevertheless, confirmation of this diagnosis and in this respect. When further investigations have to be conducted, it is apparent that the clinician not only should have a knowledge of what methods are available but also should appreciate the potential value and limitations of each method so that he can make a rational choice.
