Abstract

Homicide is the most extreme form of violence, and it is more alarming when it occurs within a relationship setting, where the risk of murder for women is six times higher than for men. In order to prevent or decrease these events, it is essential to study this phenomenon thoroughly. Although Spain has lower female homicide rates than the European and global averages, these cases still occur. Therefore, the Secretary State for Security has launched a multidisciplinary team dedicated to making a detailed research about past intimate partner homicides, with the purpose of detecting possible indicators or risk factors that may have existed. The present research is an example of a review of one of the many cases of intimate partner homicide that, unfortunately, have already happened in Spain.
