Zusammenfassung
The most relevant contribution of Leonardo Torres Quevedo to the History of Science is the definition, theoretical statement and practical exemplification of a new scientic discipline with technological extensions: Automatics. In this paper, the "automatic chess player" is studied in the context of this newly created science.
