Abstract

This paper examines the blindness of Dante before the light of Saint John in cantos XXV and XXVI of Paradise, trying to explain its sense trough notions as spiritual vision and intellectual vision, taken fromAgostino’s Super Genesi ad litteram. The analysis confirms the transitional role of the starry sky, the transition from the as yet imaginary world to what is pure intellectual light.
