Abstract

Musculoskeletal processes are the most common cause of pain, acute and chronic, and the main reason for permanent or temporary disability. At least 30% of the population develops some symptom related to musculoskeletal discomfort with muscle pain of significant importance. Muscle injuries often meet the criteria for myofascial pain syndrome or myofascial syndrome (SDM), muscular processes that can be acute or chronic, primary or secondary, and very prevalent and disabling but yet quite unknown. The cause must include biomechanical factors related to overuse or muscle overuse or repetitive micro-traumatisms and their treatment requires a multidisciplinary approach. We intend to do a systematic review of articles published in the last five years on the myofascial syndrome treatment with water. We conducted the review and concluded that the treatment with water relieves pain, reduces the number of trigger points, the disability and the anxiety.
