Zusammenfassung

This study was as objetic to determine the correlation between the number of microcysts S. lamacanis in myocardium (NoMq) and blood levels of CK-MB, AST and LDH enzymes in alpacas, to know if you can to serve as predictors of health or sarcocystiosis degree. Performed in 41Huacaya alpacas of 3-5 year old from Municipal Slaughterhouse Huancavelica – Province of Huancavelica-Perú. Blood samples and myocardium were collected ante-mortem and post-mortem, respectively. 100% of the animals showed S. lamacanis microcysts, and correlation coefficients between the NoMq and CK-MB 0.17, with AST 0.04 and with LDH 0.06. We conclude that the correlation found was very low or almost zero, so the enzymes tested, could not be used as predictors of muscle damage from infection of S. lamacanis microcysts in alpacas.
