The importance of communication in Nicanor Parra’s poetry is evident in his use of everyday subjects and languages and in his insistent allusions to the reader in numerous metaliterary texts. This article examines the presence of dialogue in the works of Parra, both the dialogue implicit in his frequent use of dramatic monologues (from Cancionero sin nombre, in 1937, to his Discursos de sobremesa from the nineties), and in the inclusion in his poems of fragments of conversation or in poems which consist exclusively in a dialogue between different characters.
