Abstract

The current investigation work consists of an analysis of different jobs in Los Santos de Maimona by means of photos, from the beginning of XX century to Democracy. Photos are considered as documentary sources suitable for the study of local history and some related aspects. Our main aim has been to search and recover photographic documents related to jobs of town workers, as well as its documentary analysis. For this aim, a System of Historic and Photographic Information, and a Thesaurus ad hoc, which has been made specially, have been used. This is how the information required for the study of jobs in the chronological period above mentioned has been obtained. We checked how the photos were spread out among people in town, the absence of a center in charge of coordinating the institutions which work with such documents, and the current absence of regulations. At the same time, we noticed the relevance of agriculture and education for the local economic development, and the adaptation of productive sectors around the main economic source: the primary sector. The display of photography development in town took place from the 50’s on, as a consequence of the improvement of economy as a consequence of the agricultural due to farmers training. This study may serve as a Historic Information System which can be used as a means of searching and recovering information by local and regional researchers.
