Abstract
Miguel de Cervantes is today considered as a colossal figure, recognized not only as the creator of Don Quixote, but also of the modern novel. In a similar way, Edgar Allan Poe is considered the «father» of detective fiction, and amongst the masters of short narrative. Even if Poe is the first detective fiction narrator, evidences, deductions, impossible cases, etc., are as old as literature itself. (The Bible, Oedipus Rex, Hamlet, among many others, are some of the most outstanding examples.) The aim of this paper is to recover «La fuerza de la sangre» as one of those early examples of «detective fiction».
