Resumo

The European project entitled Empowering Marginalized Elders, within Grundtvig (2011-2013) which being carried out the University of Almería with four other European countries (Cyprus, Hungary, Germany and Romania), has set among its aims to describe the changes that are happening in the situation of older people facing social exclusion and poverty in each of these countries, depending on their specific circumstances. Using this information also is developing a best practice guide which shows the results that have been obtained after applying different programs which were approached to help these marginalized people (older institutionalized, immigrants, without economic or social resources, living alone, etc.) providing adequate information, knowledge, skills, participation, support, etc.. Throughout this article it describes the methodology and procedure followed for the practical implementation of the proposed interventions in our community (several day centres in the province of Almería and two residences concerted older) and the main results and conclusions found.
