Abstract

The thesis reconstructs the history of the last newspaper, La Voz de Castilla, belonging to the Press of Movement (1945-1976), which was published in the province of Burgos. It combines a theoretical part, focussing on this Press of Movement under Franco, with an empirical one, where an analysis of its covers is made. The research has shown how the newspaper was born as a personal commitment of the Provincial Head of The Movement, Manuel Yllera, who created it, as a private limited company. Its aims were not only propagandistic, but also lucrative. The fight for ideological control broke out serious incidents between the National Delegation of Press and Propaganda and Yllera. In addition, the activity in the newspaper started with confiscated machinery and a deficient management which caused a poor economic profitability. Its contents evolved into less ideological and more local issues and a more visual presentation.
