Abstract

In Spain, hashish (cannabis resin) and other cannabis derivatives are illegal drugs of abuse and, as such, their cultivation, trafficking and public consumption are persecuted by law, but not private (self-cultivation). Therefore, the only way to acquire hashish is through illegal street sales. This illegality, means that both producers,transporters, distributors and sellers of these substances are not subject to any kind of good practices code, and their products do not pass any quality control by health authorities. Despite these circumstances, its consumption remains a widespread habit, even as an alternative medicine by people with a weakened immune system. On the other hand, there is growing concern about the current tendency to increase the power of hashish (concentration of THC) and its adverse effects on health. In our country, there are national reports on drugs that refer to large seizures from police operations; however, there is no information regarding hashish that consumers acquire through street sales...
