Abstract

This paper explains the difficulties of execution of the colossal marble sculptures that in 1905 Agustín Querol made for the roof of the Ministry of Public Works of Madrid. Making a copy with a pointing machine, the extraction and hauling of the marble blocks, by boat to the port of Alicante and by train to Madrid, and the construction of a large wooden scaffolding and a crane for the installation of the sculptures, conceived as a set of pieces that fit one into another, are described.
