Résumé

Grassland vegetation of the granitic pediment of the Sierra de Guadarrama (Central Spain) is analyzed by the recurrent application of photointerpretation and quantitative sampling methods developed by some authors to study upland pastures. It is observed that the peculiarities in the geomorphology and weathering of granites alter the expected continuous variation of vegetation alongs slopes. Two markedly different zones are best discriminated by their contrast in floristic composition and edaphic homogeneity: depressed accumulation zones and upper zones of slopes.
