Résumé

Events and facts are supported by the existence of documents and in the case of wars it is directly supported by graphic documents. There are many different types of war photography, depending upon the settings and people, and it is not just linked to battle scenes as such, but to all those who are involved in the war and most especially those who suffer the consequences. Ever since photography was first invented in 1839, cameras have been present in every war and bellicose conflict and have produced material of exceptional interest which helps to shape the memory of Humanity. We would like to present in this study a personal view of the photographic documentation corresponding to wars and establish a global typology of tbe images as a reference for their analysis. We will also add a personal reading of wars as producers of documents, based on two images specifically selected for this purpose.
