Abstract
The case of A.C, a 48-year-old woman which demands treatment due to anxiety and chronic pain, is described. During the assessment, A. C. described a history of stressful and traumatic events during her life, and in the last years. After the assessment and the case formulation it’s considered that these stressful and traumatic events, while not producing a PTSD, do produce posttraumatic symptoms, and, specially, a way of interpreting her context as a threatening one, foreseeing negative outcomes and originating anxiety related symptoms. Also, the treatment and chirurgical interventions for breast cancer could be the origin of her pain problem. Cognitive- behavioral treatment, a multicomponent treatment aimed at the reduction of anxiety and the feelings of pain. After treatment, a reduction of anxiety symptoms and pain experience are observed, and also is an improvement in everyday quality of life and general well-being.
