Resumen

A regressive succession of deltaic, shoreface, and continental strata characterized the deposition during the Campanian-Maastrichtian time in the foreland basin of the south-central Pyrenees. This work introduces a high-resolution stratigraphic framework among these strata along the different structural sectors of the eastern part o f the basin. The framework is based on the recognition and correlation of eight calcarenitic rudist-bearing horizons intercalated within a thick siliciclastic section. These horizons, named after their most characteristic species, have been correlated with planctonic foraminifera biozones following a shelf-to-basin stratigraphic cross-section. We conclude that these rudist horizons are valid as biostratigraphic markers.
