Zusammenfassung

Following the successful publication of the first part of The Ingenious Hidalgo Don Quixote of La Mancha in 1605, Cervantes issued other works until, in 1614, a book with the same title as his own´s appeared, signed by Alonso Fernández de Avellaneda. This false Quixote forced Cervantes to quickly conclude his book (whose writing was already very advanced), and publish it in 1615. The second part of “Don Quixote” has seventy-four chapters and tells the protagonist´s true story. According to most critics, the 1615 text exceeds the first one in literary value and gives birth to a new genre: the novel. The argument unfolds over a round trip, and the protagonists acquire a greater value because, apart from parodying the chivalry books, Don Quixote shows his wisdom and Sancho gets educated thanks to his master´s constant teaching: sentences, dialogues and behaviors provide examples that are of universal value. Don Quixote´s second part will definitely consecrate the Spanish language´s quality, proving simultaneously Cervantes as the greatest writer of all times.
