Abstract

The Moyano’s Law of 1857 considered with some ambiguity the establishment of the Escuelas Normales Femeninas where future female teachers were to be educated. Those teachers could only take interest of subjects such as Sewing, Drawing and Teaching Techniques, while the rest of the program was imparted by the male counterpart from the Escuela Normal Masculina. Despite its limits, the manuals that develop the content of these subjects are written over a coherent pedagogic base with a well-defined objective that gave the authors a distinct fame in the history of Spanish education
