Resum

With the full implementation of the European Higher Education Area, Sociology studies have experienced a new challenge: the organization of external academic internships in entities of different types. This article tries to analyze the current context of academic internships in Sociology on the basis of the answers of the staff in charge of them in all Spanish universities. Information related to the management of such programs, the profile of those responsible of implementing them, student's motivations, the obstacles they find, and a breakdown of posts among different organizations is offered. Finally, in order to frame and improve the existing internship programs, we propose some problems that should be taken into account, such as the changes in the labor processes and in the professional reconfigurations, the jurisdictional conflicts with other social sciences, the role of theorizing on one's own empirical work and the relationship between internships and professional job opportunities.
