Zusammenfassung

The object of this article is to analyze the work of Ignacio Martín Baró using a central theoretical framework in the history of Social Psychology: the study of Social Structure and Personality. According to J. S. House (1977), this perspective has its roots in some of the great thinkers that inaugurate Sociology: Marx, Weber and Durkheim. Its main characteristic would be the integration of elements of social structure and psychological elements or personality both in theoretical and empirical levels. The psychosocial perspective would be characterized by this theoretical and empirical integration. The analysis of the human behavior and of the social reality present in the work of Martín Baró shares in great measure these principles. This article analyzes the treatment that the author gives to aspects such as violence, poverty, attitudes and the definition itself of Social Psychology. Finally, the characteristic notes of Martín Baró's perspective are pointed out in connection with the study of social structure and personality
