Abstract

The aim of the thesis is the design of a methodology in order to reduce the impact of sliding bottlenecks on manufacturing multicellular systems. The complexity of solving these defects lies on the randomness of the underlying causes. These causes are reduced by the operational analysis of the resources that make up the control system. By means of this methodology two operational strategies are proposed. These strategies reduce the uncertainty surrounding the generation of sliding bottlenecks. The former is called virtual buffer and is supported by a feedforward method of detection and the latter, is called moving window and is based on an analytical model related to the potential changes of the bottlenecks. By implementing both strategies, a reduction of the impact of bottlenecks is achieved.
