Résumé

A study of the properties of clouds at different levels within a front has been carried out by means of Meteosatimages in the thermal infrared (IR) band. To do this, we define appropriate thresholds Brightness Temperature(TB) that allow delimit the area covered by clouds of different origin. First, the extensive area with brightnesstemperature less than 248 K, which is identified as a front, and on the other, the area of temperatures below221 K associated with clouds of vertical development. The centers of the convective clouds obtained from thegeographical position of the centers of gravity, have a remarkable alignment that it has been characterized bylinear regression. It compares the alignment of the cumulus with the orientation of the front itself, as the maindirection of it. This let us to develop a methodology for the comparative analysis of cloud structures of differentorigins, as well as improved knowledge of their properties and developments in the movement of synoptic systems,relative on the geographic parallels.
