Resumen

The Sepulveda-Ayllon depression, a part of the Duero basin, is located between the northern border of the Somosierra-Guadarrama Mountain and the Sepulveda calcareous massif, which isolate a small basin (piggyback basin type), that is filled of neogene materials. In the western part of this basin, Duratón river and its afluents have modelled a wide and asymmetrical valleys, whose most significant feature is the presence of a complex system of terraces developed only on the left banks of the rivers. The aims of this work are to describe and to analyze the morphological and sedimentological characteristics of the fluvial terraces. From these facts, the hidrodynamic and sedimentation conditions during quaternary evolution of these rivers are reconstructed.
