Abstract
The city, trip, memory, light, word, are the core concepts in which the work of the artist Chema Alvargonzález is built. He was inspired by the events of the contemporary world, so he experimented various means and formats of contemporary art. Throughout his career he has created different series and reflected on today's society and the differences in large cities. He worked in public spaces, with light boxes, with videos, in photographic series in which he rediscovers and transforms unknown views of the city, interventions on facades. Born in Jerez de la Frontera in 1960, Alvargonzález used to live between Barcelona and Berlin, and died early in the latter in 2009. The quality, the urban component and the human meaning of his work, in addition to his involvement and support for collective projects in Berlin (GlogauAir: Student´s Residence), provide a specifically artistic perspective to the International Conference “The City: Images and Imaginaries”
