Zusammenfassung

Both the Choral Society and the Symphony Orchestra represented the culmination of a series of attempts to provide the Township of Bilbao with those elements needed for diffusing European music and to foment musical interpretation and creation. The Choral Society, created in 1886, was to become a model society dedicated to this task. This commitment was also shared by the Symphony Orchestra after its foundation in 1922.
