Abstract
This article deals with the analysis of the different types of assessment and their uses by compulsory Secondary Education teacher in the autonomous community of the Basque Country. A sample of Secondary Education teather filled in a questionnaire on school and classroom processes throughout four school years (1999-00/2002-03).Then, teacher¿s assessment processes are described according to the resulting to the data.Afterwards, taking into account the interrelated structure of the data, a differential analysis is carried out by means of a multilevel modelation. The outcomes come to show that teachers usually adopt and put into practice LOGSE guidelines concerning assessments, although more academic uses are also quite frequent (for instance, normative assessment and the teacher as the only evaluator agent). The models proposed in the differential study show that the most significant covariables are teacher¿s seniority and, specially, the cycle of compulsory Secondary Education in which s/he teaches
