Resumen
Utopianism and conservatism sustain a controversial relationship. Conservatives reject the social order of perfection. In this interdisciplinary research we will analyze this link that involves a paradox: the conservative mind rejectes an imperative and prescriptive meaning of utopia regardless its other definitions. In order to demonstrate this, we will refer to use of the study of political ideas so as to present the characteristics and particularities of the academic field of utopianism as well as to define the dimensions and features of conservative political thinking. After presenting the state of the art of the aforementioned controversial relationship, our research will focus on the study of the writer and essayist G. K Chesterton. We clearly recognize in him traces of conservative thinking that are based on different utopian dimensions. We can, therefore, claim the existence of a conservative utopia.
