Résumé

Bindings with heraldic superlibros are characterised by the main decorative motif of the coat of arms of their former brothers, making them one of the best examples of the otential of bindings as a documentary source. To this value as a historical document must be added the enormous variety of decorative and cobstructive techniques, as well as materials, that we make up these bindings and that make the authentic functional works of art. Herladic bindings are a testimony to the lives of their owners abd reflect the distinctions that are awareded, orders and decorations, as well as the aesthetic tastes and techniques available at the time of their execution. They are, therefore, historical, artistic and technological heritage. This work studies the bindings with Spanish heraldic superlibros deposited in the collections of the Casa Velázquez Library.
