Resum
In this paper we study the importance of the energy technology and the energy mix in determining the elasticity of CO2 emissions with respect to the level of economic activity. To this end, we estimate an empirical model based on DICE models with panel data where we distinguish between fossil and renewable in the primary energy mix. Energy efficiency and the importance of high-tech renewable energy portfolio are the key elements to reduce CO2 emissions.
