Abstract
In this article the authors analyze the private costs of different power generation technologies and examine the situation of these costs regarding the revenues from electricity sales in the current framework of public regulation of diversification and renewability in Spain. We will demonstrate that the use of forest biomass in electricity generation is not achieving the social optimum. Using the Galician case as a reference point, we will discuss public intervention possibilities to increase de use of forest biomass in electricity production in Spain.
