Abstract

The current research intends to expose the social interchanges that develop among primary school students, in order to essentially comprehend the way in which socialization processes are built among peers, focusing on the differences as a main value. This investigation is developed in an interpretative paradigm through a case study, based on a qualitative methodology. The study space-time limits are restricted to a Primary School classroom during a period of two years, in which a field research was developed including participant observation, interviews, photograph elicitation and sociograms. It presents a rich methodology, mainly evidenced in the data collection, which contain an almost endless analysis perspective since the qualitative nature of this study confronts us to a complexity and richness of relationships among data. In this aspect, data were rigorously analyzed and categorized based on the research objectives. We achieved interesting conclusions regarding emotions that 6 and 7 -year-old- children display and the way these feelings articulate classroom socialization processes, which intercedes in the students’ learning process. The importance of classroom socialization processes is not present in effective teaching practices, and we intend to foster with this study.
