Abstract

Diego Sarmiento de Acuña, Count of Gondomar (1567-1626), ambassador of Felipe III in England, bibliophile and owner of one of the most important libraries in the 17th century, is a crucial person in Spain's History. The Real Biblioteca among its huge founds, keeps the biggest private documental collection related to the Count of Gondomar. A deep knowledge of that will allow to complete two features fo the Count's personality which attracts scholars in Modern and Culture History of Spain when cataloguing and publishing major data on politics and intellectual events in the Count life and about the Spain an diplomacy of Felipe III. Project's first objetive is to create a bibliographic collection with various access points to retrieve and classify his correspondence as ambassador in England located at the Real Biblioteca. At the same time as a bibliographic research we will analyze founds from Biblioteca Nacional, Real Academia de la Historia or from Archivo de los Herederos del Conde de Gondomar. Their outcome is a bibliographic database to be integrated in a multimedia documental management system which will include texts transcription and digitalized images of those documents with difficulties in reading or understanding (poems, letters,..) easing the inmediate access to the document, the second objetive. The final product presentation will be a CD-ROM with an easy enviroment and multiaccess information retrieving.
