Abstract

The present article proposes the reading of two pieces of fiction as objections to the conclusions, about dreams, that philosopher Rene Descartes arrived in his Metaphysical Meditations. The poem, written by Borges, is a parody of the world that by following Descartes' first meditation we would live in. The short story, written by Cortázar, is a contradiction of Descartes' solution to the world of doubt that he has sunken in.
