Abstract

This article attempts to analyse the path and meaning of one of the pioneer feminine action groups of Madrid, the «Grupo Femenino Socialista» (renamed from 1910, «Agrupación Femenina Socialista»), between April 1906 and March 1914, including its origin, objectives, internal divisions of opinion, linkages to and later separation from the Socialist Youth which led to ties with the PSOE party through the «Agrupación Madrileña», along with its campaigns and how these affected impressions held by Socialists of the time. All of the above is analysed witha thorough interpretative frame which tries to exhibit the enormous complexity which characterised... (Ver más) it, due to the diverse and changing lines of thought and actions within the collective. Also the differing understandings of feminine collective action have been classified into two broad categories which help us to understand a phenomenon as large and diverse as the socio-political mobilisation of workers.
