Abstract
Cancer incidence and mortality has raised in last years representing at this moment the second cause of death after heart diseases in Spain. At least half of tumors can be cured today with the available therapies. Radiation Oncology is a clinical aspect of medicine focused on diagnoses, treatment and care of cancer patients. A remarkably interest has been experimentec on radiotherapy since the discovery of X-rays and radioactivity in the last years of the 19th century. Technological developments, improvement in knowledge of the molecular basis of cancer and radiobiological progress has contributed to this renewed interest in radiotherapy. Radiation Oncology remains today as one of the most important weapon in the fight against cancer, alone or associated to other treatments
