Abstract

The mark of Victorian society in The Island of Doctor Moreau (1896) and The Island of Lost Souls (1932). The Island of Doctor Moreau (1896) is one of the most popular novels by Herbert George Wells. That explains it has been filmed several times, the first one in 1932 by Erle C. Kenton. In this paper we study both works, the novel and film, to find the traces left in them Victorian society, a society that was on its last throes when Wells published his novel
