The study observed 100 dental patients focusing on adverse reactions to local anaesthetics. Twenty-one patients (21%) exhibited local complications with the following distribution: eleven experienced pain during the administering of anaesthetics, three exhibited self-biting, three suffered prolonged anaesthesia, one exhibited local ischemia, one suffered phonation alteration, and one experienced nasal bleeding. The patients presented a high incidence of complications, possibly because inexperienced students administered the anaesthetics. In general, complications were not important and were transient in nature.
