Abstract

The author introduces Paranoia Agent’s Tsukiko Sagi and explores the Japanese series’ character according to the Eric Berne’s Transactional Analysis. The absence of the Adult Ego-State leaves a famous designer, Tsukiko, living in a nightmare of self-sabotage and illusion. Tsukiko invents a fictional aggressor to avoid the responsabilities of her life. This monster spreads to the entire Japanese collective imagination and starts destroying Tokyo. Eventually, Tsukiko recognizes her guilt and that this fictional aggressor has never actually existed. In that precise moment, she overcomes a terrible trauma and saves Tokyo form total destruction.
