Resumen

Resumen: El trastorno de pánico, para ser diagnosticado, ha de cumplir una serie de criterios y debe ser diferenciado de otros trastornos mentales u orgánicos que también cursan con ataques de pánico. El trastorno de pánico conlleva una alta tasa de comorbilidad y su curso tiende a ser crónico. La terapia cognitivo-conductual está ampliamente respaldada por la investigación y se muestra como un tratamiento eficaz. Otros tratamientos derivados de este tipo de terapia es el entrenamiento en respiración, el ejercicio físico como forma de exposición interoceptiva, la terapia cognitiva basada en mindfulness, la autoayuda y la realidad virtual así como otras técnicas como es el EMDR (Eye Movement Desensibilization and Reprocessing) o las derivadas del psicoanálisis. Se revisa el estado de la investigación acerca de la eficacia de las diferentes modalidades terapéuticas.
