Abstract

Don Juan de la Cerda (c.1515-1575), IV Duke of Medinaceli, played an important role in the political and diplomatic context of the court of Philip II. Considered one of the leaders of the faction of Eboli, its services as bureaucratic administrator were evident in the many positions to which he was appointed by the prudent monarch. His work as boss of the Ducal House of Medinaceli, increases the lineage of this family of Spanish greatness. This paper presents the first biographical sketch of the man, politician and patron in the context of the Philippine monarchy.
