In 1869 a revolution ended the government of Isabel II, ending a reign exhausted by the corruptions of moderate policy. The provisional government emerged after the revolution, set up a commission drawing up a constitution that was approved months later by the courts. The passing of the Constitution led to a broad parliamentary debate in which Republicans, who had achieved a broad representation in elections, opposed it, considering “counter” and disagree with the basic principles advocated, where should be put in the new political regime. This article tries to made the awareness of the constitutional debate and the views of the 68 Republicans on the text, framing his critique in the republican political thought in the century nineteenth.
