Abstract
This paper analyses the structural position of the Spanish capital goods industry in order to approach the macroeconomic factors that determine the productivity gap with the main competitors in the EU. It is approached from a set of indicators that reveal the strengths and weakness of its commercial insertion in three dimensions: technological level, quality and export sophistication. The evolution of these indicators shows a structural lag of this industry, even taking into account the existing productive diversity.
