Resumen
Aggression toward parents is a common phenomenon but data are still limited. Thus, violent behavior of children (perpetration) and their parents (victimization) was analyzed by Modified Conflict Tactics Scale self-administered to children/adolescent and the resulting injuries of physical aggressions in a sample of 141 children who assaulted their parents and attended at the Complutense University of Madrid. The juvenile offenders perceived themselves more victims in psychological violence (compared with fathers t = 8.05, p <.05, and mothers t = 7.17, p <.05) and more victims than aggressors in mild physical violence (compared with fathers, t = 5.64, p <.05, and mothers, t = 2.93, p <.01) and severe physical violence (only fathers, t = 3.75, p <.05). There were no significant differences in violence based on gender or age. However, the boys perceived themselves more aggressors in severe physical violence and girls perceived themselves more victims by their mothers in many violent behaviors. The results show that children/adolescent perceive intense violent interactions at the family.
