Résumé

The rate of abdominal trauma in urban pet animals is very big (10-13 %). The detection of intraabdominal injury is frecuently difficult, and serious injuries such as intestinal, pancreatic, or biliary tree rupture and bleeding are unsuspected until signs of peritonitis or shock are evident. This paper describes the technique and interpretation of Diagnostic Peritoneal Lauage, that is recognized as a tool for the early detection of intraabdominal injury.
